Description: Hand built, Amaco Velvet underglazes, Laguna B mix with grog, cone 10 reduction fired, This piece is about toxic masculinity and the beauty of embracing and accepting all parts of yourself. While most of gender inequality favors men, the roles are harmful. Men aren't expected or even allowed to be sensitive, patient, kind, loving, such traits are perceived as weak, feminine traits. They are represented by the head of the doe, the nurturer. In connection to the male body, the doe head makes the figure more human by being simultaneously masculine and feminine. This piece exemplifies a human who expresses themselves freely beyond how outside influences try to limit them.
