Title: | Ornamental Ocean Ewer |
Description: | The process for making this ewer is one I first saw done by potter Danny Meisinger. I throw a vase with a tall neck and a wide mouth, and at leather-hard state I cut away half of the rim and neck so that all that is left is a spout for pouring. The handle follows the contouring of the spout (in profile view), which adds an organic movement to the form. This particular ewer has very fine chattering marks, framed by trimmed lines. The glaze is sprayed on lighter than usual to create patches of different shades of blues and even browns (this imitates the organic movement and shifting of ocean waters. |
