| Title: | Twirling Tiger |
| Description: | Art Teacher - Lindsay Wellman Mixed Media - Ceramic sculpture with paper collage added to base and bottom of skirt. Artist Statement: "Twirling Tiger" is a ceramic project inspired by the person I most look up to; Sawyer Player. Sawyer has many unique and extraordinary characteristics, ranging from kindness to talent, humor, and respect. Not only do I look up to her because of her talent but her way of being her own person, as well as her compassion toward everyone plays a major impact in my admiration of her. A tiger was my immediate choice for an animal representation of Sawyer. A tiger's confidence, elegance, and tenderness reflects and describes Sawyer very well. To anthropomorphize my ceramic animal I created a big, flowing tutu and blue pointe shoes to reflect Sawyer's love and talent for dance. I have learned from Sawyer that you do not always have to care about what other people think of you and to always be better than yourself than to others. |
