| Description: | This piece was originally a thrown form. After removing it from the wheel, the texture visible around the shoulder was added along with the texture around the base. Following this, a number of triangular and quadrilateral shapes were cut out from the piece. After it had dried, the rim was pinched to soften it and the edges of the cut-outs were also softened. I mixed both glazes (blue/green and red/maroon) myself and I used them on this piece for their behavior when applied over texture: both break very readily over texture and this was intended to interact with the carved texture and also the substantial amount of grog in the clay itself. |
