Description: | Hand built, Amaco velvet underglazes, Laguna B mix with grog, cone 10 reduction fired, This piece tributes maligned and trapped women in it's posture. While in a submissive kneeling position, defiance is conveyed through the figure's straight back and clenched fists. The goat head symbolizes the resilience of the women's liberation movement and the struggle for self-determination. It is also a connection to nature and the natural body. The attire is representative of beauty standards, dress codes, and legislation that seek to infantilize and control women. All these elements clash with each other to embody women's will versus patriarchal ideals. |
