Title: | 6,737-piece |
Description: | Fragments from 2 broken vases representing the two typical ceramic pieces from each distinct cultures my parents grew up with. The blue Peony is Chinese national flower which can be found on many traditional chinese pottery while mosaic is an arabic design which was used for decorating everything in middle eastern countries. The pieces are broken because my life story doesn’t emcompass either culture entirely rather it incoporates pieces from both traditions. They’re pieced together roughly because they don’t perfectly blend. The title of the piece shows that my the vase represents my life and how culture shaped the way I live. 6,737 is my age in days. Wheel-thrown and underglaze was applied using a sewing needle. |
