Title: | Spiraling |
Description: | Hand-built using the slab and coil methods. Bisque fired with underglaze then drawn on with underglaze pencil, then fired again with clear and brilliant red. The main vessel with the train is meant to represent the brain in an anxiety state as it spirals around and around and drips onto the base which is modeled after intestines. As the mind is portrayed as a malfunctioning machine, it forces the viewer to physically circle the piece to view it from all angles which can be nauseating, therefore making you experience the same stomach twisting that is depicted in the base. This piece focuses on the experiences the artist has with their social anxiety and how it affects their whole body. |
