Title: | Otter |
Description: | When sculpting this ceramic river otter, I aimed to capture its playful spirit and grace. Each detail was carefully placed, guided by a connection to nature, with the goal of embodying the whimsical charm inherent in otters. Beyond creating a sculpture, the clay allowed me to depict not just the otter's physical form but a glimpse into the otter's lively presence, inviting viewers to appreciate the beauty of the animal and find joy in nature's simple yet enchanting moments. The resulting otter incorporated various new and experimental techniques, including smoke firing the rock it rests upon, and cold finishing the entire piece. This involved dunking the bisque fired and acrylic-painted clay into a bucket of floor wax to provide shine and seal the piece, ensuring it can be forever viewed and preserved in proper condition |
