Title: | Food for Thought |
Description: | A series of four decorative plates with underglaze illustrations, investigating relationship between food and consumer. Plate 1- Noodle Nelly: large eye stares at viewer, figure curled in fetal position, noodle umbilical cord connecting the figure to blood red walls. Plate 2- Judgement Day: meat cows in the field by my dad's house that watch me at night. Plate 3- Dead Ducklings: tried to rescue a clutch of ducklings, our small dog killed them in the night, tried to juxtapose their innocence, my love for my dog, with their brutal death. Plate 4- Murphy's Monster: illustration of my childhood grocery store with shadowy figure, ominous signage, questioning connections between food, memories, and who we become. |
