Title: | Imperfect by Nature |
Description: | This striking green teapot visualizes the profound connection between human expectations and the rejuvenating power of nature. The dome enclosure symbolizes being observed and confined within societal expectations. The meticulously hand-carved wooden pedestal elevates the teapot aesthetically and represents the theme of childhood trauma, with the leaves symbolizing growth and healing. To illustrate the pressure of being perfect within those expectations, I introduced imperfections in the bare clay lip on the teapot. This deliberate void signifies the emptiness that can arise when individuals conform to predefined molds. In human experience, we need "imperfect" space for personal growth, just as handmade pottery needs space (or bare clay) in the kiln so that it doesn't fuse to other pieces. By challenging conventional standards of perfection, this piece highlights the beauty of authenticity within the handmade of humanity, where imperfections become an integral part of genuine perfection. |
