Title: Fiesta Vase
Description: The inspiration of this vase came from Mexican traditions that I have experienced in my life. For the carved areas I reflected on leather work that's frequently used in belts, boots, and bags. The vase has different art styles, some being painted on others being carved. Other parts of the vase were inspired by the art style called Talavera, usually hand painted vases or tiles that use bright complementary colors. The forming process I used was with coils stacked on top of each other and smoothed. I used a base white glaze and added underglazes to add color and design. Some of the small raised designs we created by slip trailing with a bulb and needle.
