Title: | Queen Bee |
Description: | Queen Bee is my way of expressing the strength and importance of strong female figures in pop culture, especially women of color. My decision to sculpt Beyoncé Knowles was not only influenced by the unique characteristics of her facial features and the texture of the her cornrowed hair, but also how she presents herself as one of the strongest female influences in today’s pop culture. I decided to use a faux-bronze surface treatment to mirror the bronze cast statues of important historical figures. This bronzed look emphasizes her strength and positive influence on today’s younger generations. |
