Description: | Hand built, oxide wash, Amaco velvet underglaze wash, Laguna B mix cone 10 reduction fired. With this piece i really wanted to show what it feels like when you try and talk in an environment where you aren't welcome. The head itself resembles old wood with patches of wood rot scattered throughout, this represents how we all start as a new, shiny, polished piece, but over time we begin to fall apart if not taken care of and nurtured. The hands pulling the head apart from both sides represent the people in life who tear you apart by making what you say meaningless and invalidating what you see. The wood rot travels between the hands in different patches to show that what's tearing you apart isn't always the same thing, it's often similar but different sources. |
