Description: | Creating the "America's Condensed Historical Soup" can was my way of using satire to highlight the tendency to simplify and gloss over complex historical narratives. Much like parents turn to chicken noodle soup to comfort their sick children, society often turns to a condensed and idealized version of history to soothe collective discomfort. The Campbell soup can design, with its familiar aesthetics but altered font, serves as a metaphor for the packaged and simplified narratives fed to us about America's past. Through this piece, I aim to encourage a more nuanced understanding of history, emphasizing the need to acknowledge and grapple with the complexities and challenges woven into the fabric of our collective story. |
