Title: | Strawberry Patch |
Description: | A hand sculpture displaying a piece inspired by traditional tattoo art style. Underglaze as well as stroke-a- coated glaze used to paint on art. I have always loved tattoos. Tattoos speak to the importance and permanence of art as well as showcasing the historical adaptation of art. Tattoos are a huge commitment that last with you forever, displaying an individuals passion and style on their own skin. I particularly wanted to translate the history of tattoos into pottery and present the permanence as well, using tattoo practices i sketched out this piece then traced the final product onto carbon tattoo transfer paper. Using that transfer paper on wet glaze to transfer the line art. Using black underglaze and small brushes i painted on the outlines and fired it after. Once the piece was fired to a bisque state i went in with opaque, Stroke-A-Coat glaze and colored in between the lines. Finishing off the piece I covered it in a generous coat of clear glaze then fired it to have the finished product titled "Strawberry Patch". |
