Title: | For Lily. |
Description: | This piece was based of the foundation of my love for crochet and tightly knitted works of art. I started with crocheting with my grandmother at a young age which is where the name For lily comes from. As I approached this project I started with the forms that you see above, then as I completed the crochet. I sewed several of my pieces together to create the bag like shapes. I then soaked the yarn in porcelain, that I had carefully sifted through to get the slip. Afterwards, I soaked the slip with the fibers of the yarn, stuffing the piece with newspaper to keep shape as the piece became leather hard. Removing the paper, and after firing the piece. Left behind a beautiful statue of my love for crochet, and my reason "why" behind the piece. For Lily. |
