Title: | Proposito con la Creacion |
Description: | "This past summer I had the opportunity to travel to Mexico. Right away I noticed all of the different pieces of artwork, but their ceramic work specifically stood out to me. All of the vibrant colors and different patterns inspired me to make my own version of Mexican pottery. From the start, I knew it wouldn't be an easy task. I built the pitcher out of coils, pulled a spout, and attached a pulled handle. Next, I had to plan out my surface design. Originally, I was going to do an ombre on my pitcher, but it didn't turn out as I hoped. So, I sponged off my colored underglazes and applied white instead so that I could paint a floral pattern. The name of this piece, 'Proposito con la Creacion', which is Spanish for 'Purpose with Creation' will remind me of Mexico's culture and all of their beautiful pottery." |
