Title: | Daybreak |
Description: | To create my self portrait I wedged strips of red and white clay together to create a marbled texture, and then drew the outline of a self portrait onto the clay. I painted the outline first with red slip and added details with white and darker brown underglazes. As accents, I added gold glaze to the jewelry. The idea behind this piece relates to my portfolio's theme of generations and family. The title Daybreak is representative of the new and upcoming generations. The gold and orange-brown color scheme gives the piece the image of being hit by rays of sun as it breaks the horizon and the beginning of a new day. |
