Title: | Chattered Vase |
Description: | Chattered Vase was the tallest piece I have made. I decided to challenge myself and throw 20 pounds of clay. I was able to control the clay by using the clay in small pieces. I threw a large base bowl and used a heat gun to get the clay to be leatherhard. When the base became leatherhard, I stacked another ring on top of the vessel and pulled the ring to be uniform with the clay wall. I repeated the process until the vessel was complete to ensure it did not fall during the throwing process. I then chattered the belly to emphasis the directional changes of the piece. I used a gloss glaze to contract the fluxing glaze used for the chattering. |
