Title: Cookie Jar II
Description: It is my honor to present this piece after 17 months of persisting effort in pottery. This jar is made of earthearnware clay, decorated with chattering textures and glazes&underglazes which create a strong contrast between matt (only decorated with underglazes) and glossy (decorated with glazes) surfaces. The inprints found at the bottom of the main body and inside the center of the lid are my signitures in Chinese, intensified with a dark blue underglaze. The double gallery flat inset system is left unglazed on both galleries, thus producing more friction when lidded as well as a satisfying pencil-on-paper sound when capping the jar. The gallery on the main body will conserve vertical space for the lid and the gallery on the lid would offer more stability to the lid when the pot is tilted (when the pot is extremely tilted, the lid wouldn't rotate away from the body since it would be blocked by its own flange.) I drew inspiration from some lidded vessels made by Ingleton Pottery when I was planning for this cookie jar.
